We came directly to Mayfield, a guest house AIM owns and maintains. It is a beautiful place, an oasis of cleanliness, order, and quiet in the midst of a very busy city. We made a small excursion today to walk to a store, but other than church tomorrow, we are trying to spend our time resting and getting to know our group for a few days, before we leave for orientation on Tuesday. ABO (Africa Based Orientation) takes place a few hours from here in Nakuru, Kenya, and we are looking forward to the drive. This will be our first encounter with the beautiful African countryside, including Kenya's famous Rift Valley.
This morning some folks took us to what will be our house once return from ABO on February 10th. It was a wonderful feeling to walk inside and put our stuff down somewhere we can call our own, even for a time. We don't have any pictures of the house, but here are a few to give you a glimpse of the past few days.
